Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited -- Moody's rates Fairfax Financial Holdings senior notes Baa3; outlook stable

Toronto, March 17, 2016 -- Moody's Investors Services has assigned a Baa3 rating to the CAD400 million of senior unsecured notes being issued by Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (Fairfax; TSE: FFH). Proceeds from the senior notes offering are expected to be used to augment its cash position, to pursue potential acquisition opportunities, to increase short-term investments and marketable securities held at the holding company level, to refinance or retire outstanding debt and other corporate obligations of the Company and its subsidiaries from time to time and/or for general corporate purposes. The rating outlook for Fairfax is stable.
