Berkshire Hathaway Inc. -- Moody's affirms Berkshire Hathaway Assurance Corporation's Aa1 insurance financial strength rating; outlook stable

New York, January 24, 2014 -- Moody's Investors Service has affirmed the Aa1 insurance financial strength (IFS) rating of Berkshire Hathaway Assurance Corporation (BHAC). The outlook for the rating is stable. BHAC is a financial guaranty insurance company owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (Berkshire -- long term issuer rating Aa2, short-term issuer rating Prime-1, NYSE: BRK-A) subsidiaries Columbia Insurance Company (Columbia -- IFS rating Aa1) and National Indemnity Company (NICO - IFS rating Aa1), the two principal operating entities in the Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance Group.
