YRC Loss Wider Than Estimates

(RTTNews) - Transportation services provider YRC Worldwide Inc (YRCW) on Thursday reported first-quarter net loss to shareholders of $21.6 million or $0.70 per share compared with a loss of $88.3 million or $3.95 per share last year.

Revenues for the quarter were $1.19 billion compared with $1.21 billion in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated a loss of $0.49 per share on revenues of $1.22 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Operating ratio for the quarter worsened to 99% from 98.3% last year.

Operating expenses for the quarter totaled $1.18 billion compared with $1.24 billion last year. Other expenses were $24 million versus $42 million a year ago.
