Business Editors
OTTAWA & CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2005--Workstream Inc.(TM) (NASDAQ: WSTM), a provider of On-Demand Enterprise Workforce Management software today announced that it has partnered with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Workstream's CEO Michael Mullarkey, has personally contributed 100,000 Workstream shares to the Milestones to a Cure Campaign.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that causes the body to produce abnormally thick mucus which clogs airways and leads to life-threatening lung infections. It affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States today.
"A cure for cystic fibrosis is within our reach. My small contribution is one step forward to finding a cure for children living with cystic fibrosis," said Michael Mullarkey, Chairman and CEO of Workstream Inc. "I urge everyone to contact their local CF foundation and to contribute what they can to help these children living with CF," continued Mullarkey.
"Workstream and Michael have been very supportive of CF and we appreciate his involvement," stated Carolyn Cronin, Executive Director of the Greater Illinois Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis.
Workstream's employees and partners began supporting the cystic fibrosis foundation earlier this year when they came together to help sponsor an inaugural charity event that was held by the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; this event raised over $200,000.
About Cystic Fibrosis and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
CF is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 people in the United States. A defective gene causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus that leads to chronic and life-threatening lung-infections and impairs digestion. When the CF Foundation was founded in 1955, few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Today, because of research and care supported by the CF Foundation with money raised through donations from individuals, corporations and foundations, the median age of survival for people with CF is in the early 30s.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to assure the development of the means to cure and control CF and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. CFFT is the nonprofit drug development affiliate of the CF Foundation that operates drug discovery, development and evaluation efforts. Total support of CFFT is provided by the CF Foundation.
