Wisconsin Energy Q1 Profit Rises, Results Top Estimates - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Wisconsin Energy Crop. (WEC) Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $207.6 million or $0.91 per share, up from $176.6 million or $0.76 per share in the prior year.

On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.84 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Operating revenues for the quarter grew to $1.70 billion from $1.28 billion a year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $1.33 billion for the quarter.

Severe winter temperatures drove record demand for natural gas over the first three months of 2014. In addition, retail demand for electricity across the region rose by 3.9 percent over the prior-year quarter, the company said.
