Windstream Q3 Profit Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Windstream Holdings Inc. (WIN) reported that its third-quarter net income decreased to $30.6 million or $0.05 per share, from $46.8 million or $0.08 per share in the same quarter last year.

GAAP results included an after-tax loss on the early extinguishment of debt and merger and integration, restructuring and other expense. Excluding these non-operational charges, adjusted earnings per share would have been $0.08 for the third quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.09 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues and sales for the quarter declined to $1.504 billion from $1.545 billion in the prior year quarter. Twelve analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $1.51 billion for the quarter.

"Growth in business and consumer broadband revenues, combined with declining capital expenditures and lower cash interest expense, produced strong free cash flow during the quarter," said Jeff Gardner, president and CEO.
