What is the Evolving Role of Electronic Manufacturing Service Providers in the Medical Industry?

-- Frost & Sullivan to present at Surface Mount Technology Association's and International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative's Medical Electronics Symposium

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- With many opportunities found in the medical electronics industry, the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) and the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI) are hosting an event catered to this industry called the Medical Electronics Symposium( http://bit.ly/16C6GZH ). The conference will be held on November 12-13, 2013 at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas, Calif. with Frost & Sullivan as an official media and presenting partner at the event.

The symposium will focus on medical electronic devices, carriers and components, advanced assembly techniques, reliability and the complex global regulatory requirements (including RoHS) required for medical applications. This includes opportunities within the medical industry for electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers, which happens to be a vastly growing market. As such, Frost & Sullivan's Measurement and Instrumentation Research Director Kiran Unni will present on Evolving Role of EMS Providers in the Medical Industry during the second day of the event.

"There is lots of potential for an elevated role of strategic partnerships within the global medical market," said Unni. "As a matter of fact, Frost & Sullivan finds that the EMS market in the medical industry is currently growing at a CAGR of 10 percent in 2013 and expects this to rise to a 12 percent CAGR by 2019."

The first day will feature topics like reliability manufacturing, miniaturization, cleaning, and reliability design of medical electronics. Speakers presenting on these topics include: Fraunhofer IZM, St. Jude Medical, Schoeller Electronics, Cactus Semiconductor Inc., Kyzen Corporation, ZESTRON America, Dyconex AG, Indium Corporation, and more.

The second day of the event will consist of sessions on emerging technologies, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and overall market trends, which includes Frost & Sullivan's presentation. A Panel from iNEMI will discuss "Key Issues Facing the Medical Electronics Industry" from the 2013 iNEMI Roadmap.
