W.R. Berkley Q3 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - W.R. Berkley Corp. (WRB) Monday reported third-quarter net income of $136.97 million, or $0.97 per share, compared to $100.95 million, or $0.71 per share in the same period last year.

Operating income for the quarter was $108.46 million, or $0.77 per share, up from $86.14 million, or $0.61 per share in the year-ago period. On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.74 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net premiums written improved 12 percent to $1.42 billion from $1.28 billion last year, while five analysts expected the company to earn revenues of $1.57 billion.
