Validity Sensors and Synaptics Announce Partnership Agreement for the Notebook Market

Validity Sensors Inc., a privately held biometric companyspecializing in high-quality durable fingerprint sensors, todayannounced a mutually exclusive partnership with Synaptics, a leadingdeveloper of interface solutions for mobile computing, communicationsand entertainment devices. The partnership was forged to design,develop, manufacture, and distribute a line of biometrically enabledinterface solutions, coined SecurePad(TM), for the notebook market.Validity and Synaptics share a common goal to make integration andcustomization easy for manufacturers and to provide a durable solutionfor convenient security to end users.

The SecurePad solution announced earlier by Synaptics integratesValidity's LiveFlex fingerprint sensor with a Synaptics TouchPad. Theresultant combination module simplifies integration and allowsmanufacturers to easily offer fingerprint security as a build-to-orderoption.

Validity's line of durable LiveFlex fingerprint sensors eliminatesthe need to remember multiple usernames and passwords by allowingusers to simply swipe their finger over a durable and familiartouchpad-like plastic surface. The LiveFlex sensor overcomes theconcerns associated with traditional silicon fingerprint sensors byprotecting the silicon from the user. The only exposed area is thedurable surface of the Validity sensor providing superior resistanceto ESD, harsh chemicals, abrasion, and impact, all of which arecritical factors for notebook use in real-world environments.
