Unum Group Q2 Profit Down

(RTTNews) - Unum Group (UNM) Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $224.3 million or $0.90 per share, down from last year's $239.4 million or $0.93 per share.

Total revenues for the quarter rose to $2.70 billion from $2.66 billion last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.90 per share on revenues of $2.67 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking forward the company now anticipates growth in after-tax operating earnings per share for full-year 2015 to be towards the lower end of the outlook range of two percent to five percent.
