United Natural Foods Q3 Profit Meets Estimate; Narrows FY14 Outlook

(RTTNews) - United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) Tuesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $36.4 million or $0.73 per share compared with $31.6 million or $0.64 per share last year.

On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.73 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter were $1.78 billion, up 13.8% from $1.57 billion in the prior year, while thirteen analysts expected revenues of $1.78 billion for the quarter.

Looking ahead to fiscal year 2014, the company now expects net earnings of $2.47 to $2.50 per share on revenues of $6.73 billion to $6.77 billion. It earlier projected earnings of $2.45 to $2.51 per share and sales of $6.70 billion to $6.78 billion.

Analysts expect earnings of $2.52 per share on revenues of $6.75 billion for the year.
