U.S. Launches Anti-dumping Probe Against Steel Wire Rod From China

(RTTNews) - The U.S. Commerce Department has launched anti-dumping duty and countervailing duty probes against imports of carbon and some alloy steel wire rod from China, which are often converted into wire products.

The investigations follow a request from steel giant ArcelorMittal's (MT) USA division and five other U. S. companies, which alleged that these products were sold below their fair value with dumping margins between 99.32 percent and 110.25 percent.

Chinese producers and exporters are also said to have received improper government subsidies.

The International Trade Commission, the U.S. trade authority, is expected to make its preliminary inquiry determination by March 17.
