TSX Rides Win Streak To 11-Month Highs -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks surged to their highest in 11 months Tuesday, with Toronto's main index up triple-digits for a third straight day.
Rebounding oil prices powered gains in the energy sector, while banks were higher on speculation the Brexit crisis was overblown.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 119.70 points, or 0.83 percent, to 14,477.67.
August WTI oil settled at $46.80/bbl on Nymex, up $2.04, or 4.6% -- a one-week high and the biggest daily gain since April.
OPEC forecast new demand of 1.2 million barrels a day for 2016, unchanged from the increase forecast for this year.
Bombardier (BBD.B.TO) announced a $93 million order from Porter Airlines.
Brookfield Asset Management (BAM.A.TO) raised $14-billion for its new global infrastructure fund. Shares rose 1 percent.
