TSX Resumes Hot Streak -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks nudged higher Monday, resuming a strong recent uptrend on modest but widespread gains across most sectors.
Energy stocks performed well despite falling oil prices, financials were steady, and consumer discretionary shares were up sharply.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 49.98 points, or 0.35 percent, to 14,532.40, its sixth daily gain in seven sessions.
This represents new 11-month closing high.
August WTI oil was down 71 cents, or 1.6 percent, to settle at $45.24/bbl on Nymex.
SNC-Lavalin (SNC.TO) has won a five-year engineering service deal in Qatar. Shares were down 0.6 percent.
