TSX Hits Another Record High, Led By BlackBerry -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks continued to rise Wednesday, extending record highs as crude oil futures further rallied.
Crude oil surged above $61 for the highest closing price in three years. Energy stocks followed suit, and the TSX Composite Index rose 58.89 points to 16,368.88.
BlackBerry (BB.TO) is working with Baidu on the Appollo driverless vehicle program.
"Joining forces with Baidu will enable us to explore integration opportunities for multiple vehicle subsystems including ADAS, infotainment, gateways, and cloud services." said John Wall, Senior Vice President and GM of BlackBerry QNX.
Shares jumped to the highest since 2013.
RBC Bank was hit with online service disruptions a day after similiar frustrations for TD Bank. RBC shares rose 0.9 percent.
Aurora Cannabis (ACB.TO) has increased its stake in CanniMed (CMED.TO) to 2.3%.
