TripAdvisor, Inc. Announces 29% Retreat In Q2 Profit

(RTTNews) - TripAdvisor, Inc. (TRIP) reported a profit for second quarter that declined compared to the same period last year.

The company said its earnings came in at $56 million, or $0.38 per share. This was lower than $79 million, or $0.54 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.42 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 3.5% to $391 million. This was down from $405 million last year.
