Toys R Us Pulls Tonka Truck After Apparent Explosion
(RTTNews) - Toys "R" Us has stopped selling Tonka toy dump truck after a Washington couple's Christmas gift for their grandson burst into flames at the back of their real pick-up truck.
According to CBS New York report, Roxsane and Delmond Harden of Bellingham, Washington were in their Ford Ranger when the toy truck burst into fire.
"Sparks and smoke coming from inside of the box, like fire," Roxsane Harden said. "Like, it was hot."
The couples had bought the Tonka 12V Ride-On Dump Truck from a local Toys "R" Us on Friday and were on way to home when the toy caught fire.
Toys 'R' Us, in a statement said, "Although this appears to be an isolated incident, out of an abundance of caution we are implementing a stop-sale and pulling the item from our stores and Toysrus.com pending further investigation. In the meantime, we are working closely with Dynacraft, the manufacturer, to determine the cause."
