Toyota Recalls 33,000 Vehicles Globally To Fix Problem Related To Engine:reports

(RTTNews) - Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. (TM, TYT.L) is recalling 33,000 pickup trucks, cars and commercial vehicles globally to fix a problem related to the engine, according to several media reports.

The vehicles being recalled include the land cruiser Prado mid-size sports utility vehicle, and many other bigger ones.

According to reports, majority of recalled vehicles are from Japan, and about 4,000 Tacoma four-cylinder pickup trucks will be recalled in the United States.

The company said that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall of about 4,000 Model Year 2013-2014 Tacoma 4 cylinder pickup trucks in the U.S.

In the involved vehicles, engine valve springs made by one of two suppliers could develop cracks and break over time due to improper maintenance of manufacturing equipment used to make the part. If this occurs, abnormal noise and rough engine performance can be noticed. In some cases the engine could fail and stop while the vehicle is being driven, the company said in a statement.
