Torchmark Corp. Q3 Profit Rises 5%

(RTTNews) - Torchmark Corp. (TMK) released earnings for its third quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $146.1 million, or $1.23 per share. This was up from $139.8 million, or $1.15 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.20 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 6.1% to $1.05 billion. This was up from $0.99 billion last year.
