Tom Pardun Elected Chairman of Western Digital, Succeeding Matt Massengill
LAKE FOREST, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Western Digital Corp. today announced that Thomas E. Pardun has been elected non-executive chairman of the board, effective April 1, 2007, succeeding Matt Massengill. Massengill, 45, recently retired as an employee of the company and remains a member of the board. Pardun, 63, was first elected a director in 1993 and previously served as Western Digital chairman in 2000 and 2001.
In July of 2000, Pardun retired as president of MediaOne International, Asia-Pacific (formerly U S WEST Asia-Pacific). Before that, he was president and chief executive officer of U S WEST Multimedia Communications, Inc., a subsidiary of U S WEST. Previously, he held various executive positions at U S WEST Communications, Sprint, and IBM. In addition to WD, he serves on the boards of CalAmp Corp., Megapath, Inc., and Occam Networks.
Massengill served as chief executive officer of WD from 2000 to 2005 and has been associated with the company since 1985. He was elected chairman in 2001. In addition to serving on the WD board since 2000, he currently serves on the boards of ViewSonic Corp. and MicroSemi Corp. and several non-profit organizations including Orange County Technology Action Network, South Coast Repertory, and THINK Together.
