Team Mannatech Athlete Nancy Lieberman Signs Seven-day Contract with the Detroit Shock

Mannatech, Incorporated (NASDAQ: MTEX), a leading developer and provider of dietary supplements and skin care solutions, announces that Team Mannatech member and basketball legend Nancy Lieberman has signed a seven-day contract with the Detroit Shock. Lieberman, age 50, in an almost unprecedented move, was asked to play for the team during its temporary loss of Cheryl Ford due to an injury. "In 1997, when I was trying to come back to basketball at the tender age of 38, no one thought I could do it,” Lieberman said. "Using Mannatech products, I was able to improve my performance and become a successful player in the WNBA. Today, I’m the only woman in the WNBA who is playing professional basketball at age 50 and I enjoy telling my players, friends and family about the success I’ve had with Mannatech products.” Lieberman was introduced to Mannatech products by former NBA four-time All-Star Otis Birdsong. She turned to Birdsong for advice as she was attempting to make a previous comeback in the WNBA at age 38. He encouraged Lieberman to make Mannatech products a part of her training regimen. Like all other Team Mannatech athletes from around the world, Lieberman endorses Mannatech products because she believes they help her achieve and maintain optimal performance. "Lieberman is a legend in women’s basketball and dedicates her life to educating athletes about health and nutrition,” said former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Butch Johnson, Mannatech’s senior director of community affairs and sports marketing. "We are so proud of her new record to be the only woman in the WBNA to play professional basketball at age 50.” Lieberman is the youngest basketball player in Olympic history to win a medal. Known in her college career as "Lady Magic,” Lieberman is a three-time, college all-American and inductee in the Basketball Hall of Fame. She is a Team Mannatech athlete, a group of 163 athletes worldwide who consume Mannatech products to maintain optimal health and performance while serving as role models for today’s wellness generation. In an effort to support Lieberman and her ongoing successes, including her minority scholarship fund she started 25 years ago, the company has donated $5,000 to assist Dallas-area minority children. In addition to the monetary donation, Mannatech has contributed a year’s supply of children’s dietary supplements that the current ESPN commentator said she will distribute to the thousands of children who annually attend the Nancy Lieberman Basketball Camp in Dallas. "Mannatech’s gracious gifts will help us use basketball as a tool to engage children and teach them about self-esteem, confidence and health,” Lieberman said. "This year we’re celebrating the 25-year anniversary of the Dallas camp. During that time, we’ve served more than 30,000 families. Second-generation children are participating now—the children of parents who attended the camps when they were kids.” Team Mannatech athletes have chosen to achieve and maintain optimal health through the utilization of cutting-edge training techniques and proper nutrition. Mannatech products do not contain any of the banned substances listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency, which promotes and monitors the fight against doping in sports.
