Tarkett launches full Collaborative suite, debut collection of soft surface and LVT from VP of Commercial Design Omoleye Simmons
SOLON, Ohio, Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Tarkett has launched the full Collaborative portfolio, which includes eleven total designs across soft surface and LVT flooring. Initially unveiled at Design Days this summer, Collaborative has been one of Tarkett's most anticipated collections of the year.
Designed with the modern workplace in mind, the collection's mix of patterns provides spaces with agility to meet changing demands and embrace neurodiverse work styles, offering solutions for busy, collaborative areas as well as quiet, heads-down zones.
"In recent years, we've had the opportunity to rethink culture, how communities engage, and how to support an inspiring environment, wherever that may be," said Paul Young, senior vice president of product innovation and design for Tarkett North America. "As people return to shared workspaces, they need ways to connect more meaningfully, feel more supported, and be inspired to do their best work. Collaborative creates shared spaces where people can work in the ways that work for them."
The collection emerged from a shared mark-making process led by Tarkett's vice president of design for its commercial business, Omoleye Simmons, who joined the team in September 2022. Collaborative is Simmons' first collection at Tarkett.
In creating the collection, the design team took on a hands-on exploration of various art forms, including mark-making, spraying and brushing watercolor paint, and layering paper. The design process extended across design studios, forming a truly collaborative activity.
"With Collaborative, we celebrate coming together as individuals to build and create," Simmons said. "All the elements in Collaborative work together to create inclusive destinations where cultures can thrive."
The Collaborative collection is a versatile solution for today's workspaces, with a variety of visual patterns each designed to support different needs in the workplace.
The soft-surface patterns include:
- Create Balance: This style helps build a restorative and re-energizing space with painterly movement that is both comforting and beautifully dynamic.
- Create Purpose: This pattern, with softly overlapping shapes and lines that support collaborative energy, sets the tone for creating a new sense of culture.
- Create Space: With subtle, handcrafted sensibility, this style provides a flexible backdrop to support a range of aesthetics and needs.
- Create Impact: Boldly cut lines and angles add energy to this style, inviting workers to connect, interact or simply stay flexible in their mindset.
- Create Vision: In swaths of color across a fresh surface, this pattern provides the groundwork for collaboration while freeing up space for individuality.
- Create Unity: With a smaller-scale pattern of subtle intersections and organic movement, this style supports a sense of comfort as well as connection.
All soft-surface styles are available on modular carpet tile, including on Tarkett's ethos® Modular with Omnicoat Technology® or on Flex-Aire Modular Cushion. A Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver non-PVC backing, ethos Modular is made with post-consumer recycled PVB from car windshields and architectural glass from buildings. Flex-Aire contains 22–28 percent overall recycled content and provides superior acoustic performance, appearance retention and moisture management.
Create Balance, Create Purpose and Create Space are also available on Powerbond. Tarkett's Powerbond® RS, the world's first CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® soft-surface floorcovering, is a hybrid surface that combines the look and feel of carpet with the durability and cleanability of a resilient surface. Made with the only truly impermeable, closed-cell cushion backing and installed with chemically welded seams, Powerbond RS provides a wall-to-wall moisture barrier to prevent mold and mildew. Its low pile height allows for the easy removal of dust and allergens: In testing, 95 percent of allergens were removed effectively with a simple dry vacuuming.
The LVT options, which launched last week, are available on Tarkett's premium Contour LVT, featuring top-of-the-line durability and protection. The Collaborative LVT styles include:
- Create Together: Inspired by the play between layers of brushstrokes, this style was developed with a changing workplace in mind, one that focuses on individuals while encouraging the relationships that make a work environment flourish.
- Create Meaning: Hybrid work models must be welcoming and accommodating; this style allows lower contrasts of color to blend and move throughout the design, enabling a softer visual that is subtle and inviting.
- Create Expression: An artisanal interpretation of terrazzo and mosaic, this pattern features unique, bold shapes and subtle color variation, helping connect the space's materials and patterns.
- Create Emphasis: Create moments of mindfulness in more private zones with this style's grounding neutrals. Elevate a space with the style's accent colors, creating areas that invite and motivate.
- Create Clarity: Exploring the beauty that is possible with transparency, this handcrafted design reflects the dynamic hybrid environments, where workers should feel creative and can be authentic with each other.
"The story and campaign behind this launch give our clients a wonderful, behind-the-scenes view of Tarkett's design leadership," said Sonia Serrao, senior director of brand marketing for Tarkett North America. "That leadership begins with our beautiful flooring designs and continues through our latest services and sample materials. Collaborative is one of the first collections introduced with our newly designed architectural folders, and the Carpet & LVT Studio allows clients to visualize both product platforms within a single virtual space. These innovative tools provide a streamlined customer experience from beginning to end."
