SunEdison Posts Hefty Loss In Q1 - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Semiconductor and solar technology company SunEdison Inc. (SUNE) posted a huge net loss attributable to stockholders of $613.6 million, or $2.31 a share for the first quarter 2014, versus a $89.4 million, or $0.40 a share loss, last year.
On a non-GAAP basis, net loss amounted to $64.2 million, or $0.25 per share for the latest quarter. On average, 11 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected loss per share of $0.17 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Quarterly GAAP revenue of $546.5 million, was higher than the prior-year figure of $443.6 million, with non-GAAP revenue increasing year-on-year to $577.6 million, from $431.3 million. Analysts estimated revenues of $593.88 million for the quarter.
The company said its quarterly results reflected continued progress in solar projects retained in its Solar Energy segment and sequentially improving volumes in its Semiconductor Materials division. Solar pipeline grew sequentially, and gross additions were 323 MW.
