Sucampo Pharma Q4 Profit Surges, Results Beat View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SCMP) reported fourth-quarter net income of $9.28 million or $0.21 per share, up from $2.32 million or $0.05 per share in the year-ago period.

There were no special items for the latest quarter. Adjusted net income for the year-ago period was $2.4 million or $0.06 per share.

On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.18 per share for the latest quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter grew 54 percent to $37.76 million from $24.49 million in the prior-year period. Analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $36.91 million for the quarter.

The increase in revenues was primarily due to higher royalty revenue on AMITIZA net sales in the U.S., the growth of AMITIZA sales in Japan and the previously mentioned $8.0 million recognized in contract and collaboration revenue from Takeda.

Looking ahead to fiscal 2015, Sucampo forecast net income in a range of $25.0 million to $30.0 million, or $0.55 to $0.65 per share. Street expects the company to report earnings of $0.60 per share for the year.
