Stericycle Results Miss Estimates

(RTTNews) - Stericycle Inc (SRCL) on Thursday reported first-quarter net earnings of $75.5 million or $0.87 per share compared with $79.2 million or $0.91 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $1.08 per share compared with $1.04 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were higher at $663.3 million compared with $570 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.10 per share on revenues of $676.5 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company's gross margin for the quarter slid to 42.4% from 44.8% in the prior year.
