Sisu Issues Voluntary Recall of Products
VANCOUVER, Canada, Feb. 9, 2018 /CNW/ -- Sisu Inc. today announced a voluntary recall of some of its vitamin products because of a packaging defect.
This defect was caused by a manufacturing anomaly in some of the 100cc size glass bottles used in the packaging of certain Sisu vitamin products beginning in October 2015 through March 2016.
Specifically, an anomaly during the bottle manufacturing process resulted in a small piece of glass being left attached to the bottom-inside surface of the bottle as they were molded. This fragment could become detached during normal packaging and handling procedures and could pose a potential health hazard if ingested or handled. The company has received only one complaint and there are no known injuries associated with this defect.
We were recently made aware of this defect through a customer complaint and take situations like this seriously. Once it was brought to our attention, the company took precautionary measures to ensure customer safety. Sisu notified Health Canada as well as the manufacturer and distributors of the defective bottles, and began the voluntary recall process. We plan to take this opportunity to evaluate our processes and procedures to ensure the safety and quality of packaging used for our products.
