On February 27, 2017, AmTrust reported financial and operating results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2016, which included a 39.5% decline in the Company's fourth quarter 2016 net income compared to the same period in 2015.  In addition, AmTrust disclosed that it would not timely file its 2016 annual financial statements and that the Company had "identified material weaknesses in its internal control over financial reporting that existed as of December 31, 2016." 

On this news, AmTrust's share price fell $5.32, or 19.23%, to close at $22.34 on February 27, 2017.
