Scotiabank Q4 Profit Rises, Approves Dividend - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS, BNS.TO), known as Scotiabank, reported Tuesday that fourth-quarter net income attributable to common shareholders increased to C$1.91 billion from last year's C$1.75 billion.

Earnings per share grew 8 percent to C$1.57 from C$1.45 last year. Adjusted earnings per share were C$1.58, compared to C$1.46 a year ago.

Total revenue improved to C$6.75 billion from C$6.13 billion a year earlier. Net interest income was C$3.653 billion, an increase of 8%.

Separately, the company said its Board of Directors at its meeting approved the quarterly dividend of 74 cents per common share. The dividend applies to shareholders of record as of January 3 and is payable January 27.
