Scania Reports Strong Fourth Quarter Order Intake; Bookings up 31 Percent in October-November

At today's Capital Markets Day, Per-Erik Lindquist, head ofFranchise and Factory Sales, confirmed that Scania's (STO:SCVA)(STO:SCVB) order bookings remain strong.

"The continued strong underlying demand for transport capacity isreflected in a high order intake. The major part of the increase comesfrom European markets, which supports our conviction of customers'preference in EGR-technology as the best choice for the emission levelEuro 4, which became compulsory on 1 October," said Per-ErikLindquist.

There is a shortage of transport capacity in Europe, and thesupply of used vehicles is limited.

Scania is one of the two manufacturers in Europe that provideEGR-engines for Euro 4. Recently, the Dutch transport company VosLogistics ordered 1,000 Scania tractors with EGR of Euro 4-version.

"We have delivered more that 12,000 vehicles equipped withEGR-engines. Our EGR-technology has a proven record of excellent fuelconsumption, good reliability and simplicity to handle - it's just toadd diesel.

"With this strong order intake, we are now booking orders fordeliveries in the second quarter of next year," said Per-ErikLindquist.
