Sanitas, Inc. Launches Family Healthware; Ancestry Data helps Create a Family Health History and Prevent Chronic Illness
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sanitas, Inc., an innovator in developing Web and mobile software that empowers self-health care while reducing costs, announced the launch of Family Healthware today at The Atlantic Meets the Pacific conference at UC San Diego.
Family Healthware™, developed and tested by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), provides tools to predict common chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, stroke and cancer, and take steps to prevent them.
Family Healthware's free service employs a quick, easy-to-use questionnaire including health behaviors, medical screenings, and the medical history of first and second-degree relatives. Family Healthware provides an overall health risk score and a personalized prevention plan with recommended lifestyle changes and additional medical screenings. Members may invite relatives to create a comprehensive family health tree and health history record for their family.
The CDC evaluated Family Healthware at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Research Institute, and the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Naser Partovi, CEO of Sanitas, Inc. noted, "Doctors often say that a comprehensive behavioral and genetic family history is the single most effective method for predicting the likelihood of getting future diseases-more so than genetic testing alone. Family Healthware is the only Web- based tool of its kind with proven efficacy as evidenced by a large number of peer reviewed publications."
