San Diego Pride's Theme "Allied in Action: United for Justice," as well as an Increased Diversity in Sponsorship, including Claery and Hammond, LLP, Contributed to its Unprecedented Success.

LOS ANGELES, July 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Claery and Hammond, LLP, a local Southern California law firm – along with thousands of other sponsors, spectators, and volunteers – helped the philanthropic organization, San Diego Pride, create the largest several-day philanthropic economic event in the city's history.  It is estimated that the San Diego 2017 Pride events propelled the city's local economy to record-breaking high levels, even exceeding San Diego's epic Comic-Con event.  Early estimates suggest that the event brought in $11 million in revenue to the city's businesses, and that the event fostered more than $95,000 in additional sales tax revenue.  San Diego Pride's board is calling this year's event a monumental success.  Although the San Diego Pride celebration has come and gone, its impact on the local economy, as well as the impact on the organization's philanthropic causes, will continue to be present.

This year's San Diego pride was a very peaceful event, despite some initial concerns of possible extreme protests, repugnant actions, clashes and even arrests.  The parade, which took place on Saturday, July 15, 2017, had an increase of approximately 30,000 attendees over last year's astonishing 200,000 attendees.  Moreover, contingents participating in the event also rose an incredible 50%.  The sponsorship continues to increase in diversity, with organizations ranging from law firms such as Claery and Hammond to national organizations like CBS radio stations, and even international companies like Colgate.

San Diego Pride released an official statement saying a record 230,000 people watched 253 entrants, including Claery and Hammond, make their way through Hillcrest and into Balboa Park.  The celebration had no notable upsetting incidents.  One officer was injured in an unrelated event on Sunday at Studio 819 Hotel in Hillcrest.

The organization says Interfaith and The San Diego Convention Center were only a few of the new groups to join in the parade.  The first night of the Music Festival welcomed 30,000 people. That's as many as the total amount of people who attended last year's entire multi-day event.  Many of the ticket options had sold out, including the limited VIP packages.  Organizers say this year's theme, "Allied in Action: United for Justice," may have contributed to its success.

Chloe Janda, Public Relations Manager for San Diego Pride, released a statement on Sunday, July 16, 2017, "This weekend has already seen over 200,000 people descend on Hillcrest to send a message of unity."  R&B legends En Vogue, recent dance-chart topper Tinashe, and Grammy-award winner Estelle headlined the weekend at the music festival to an enthusiastic crowd of more than 30,000 people.  The masses also enjoyed over 100 other artists over 4 stages.  In Hillcrest, an artistic neighborhood in San Diego, the night life was alive and energized. A line formed around the block and into an alley for its "Pride Massive" musical event.

San Diego Pride has had consistent historic success. A historic study by the San Diego State University Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research released 3 years ago found that the multi-day event made a $10.9 million economic impact.  "This study reveals that San Diego Pride is an important cultural celebration as well as an economic driver that supports jobs, tourism and local businesses," said San Diego's Mayor at a press conference. "SDSU's economic impact report shows that even though other cities may have their own celebrations, San Diego remains a premier destination when it comes to Pride festivities."  San Diego Pride attracted 2,000 international visitors, and over 48% of them stayed an average of 2.5 nights in a hotel (at $170 per night). It's estimated that 10,900 hotel room nights were sold to Pride attendees, and the city earned $95,000 in additional sales tax revenue.
