Salesforce.com Previews Summer '05 Release With New Multiforce Applica

NEW YORK, March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Salesforce.com , the market and technology leader in on-demand customer relationship management, today announced new customization capabilities, including the groundbreaking Multiforce application environment, that will be offered as part of the company's Summer '05 release. The upgrade, which will mark the 18th generation of salesforce.com's award winning on-demand CRM service, is targeted for release to all 227,000 subscribers and 13,900 customers in June.

At the core of the upcoming release is the new Multiforce application environment, a feature that allows Salesforce subscribers to multi-task between multiple on-demand applications, all running in the same Salesforce environment, with a single click. The new technology will be available at no extra charge to all Professional and Enterprise Edition customers.

Multiforce will extend the range of salesforce.com's vision of on-demand computing from running CRM to powering all of a business' on-demand applications written for the company's platform. With Multiforce, companies will be able to use the same data model, security system and user interface for any on-demand application built by customers or partners for the sforce platform and with the Customforce tool. Eliminating "data silos" and deployment issues that have traditionally plagued enterprise application efforts, Multiforce will change the economics of customization and allow companies to create applications in as little as a few minutes, and without any code. Much like the way salesforce.com revolutionized application deployment, the company is now redefining application development and customization.

"Our Summer '05 release will be another major step in what we call the next stage of the on-demand revolution," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com. "Multiforce represents our commitment to bringing the benefits of on-demand to all areas of the enterprise, and to companies of all sizes. By enabling the management and sharing of all information on- demand, Multiforce is the realization of an important part of our vision for the future of computing."

Customization clicks with subscribers

Multiforce will be a significant extension of the capabilities of Customforce, which was formally announced on Nov. 2, 2004 at Dreamforce User and Developer Conference. The new technology is intended to add even more force to the momentum of Customforce, salesforce.com's point-and-click customization tool. Since the Nov. 17, 2004 release of Customforce, customers have amassed over 4.2 million uses for customizations of Salesforce.com. Analogous to the number of miles driven by a car, this number means that more than 4.2 million new data records have been created within custom objects generated by salesforce.com customers. Built into Salesforce and Supportforce, Customforce enables 13,900 companies to leverage the simplicity, power, and success of on-demand computing to create 13,900 unique CRM editions, rather than choosing from a handful of cookie cutter options. Customforce makes Salesforce the world's most customizable CRM.

"At Expedia Corporate Travel, we have very defined and precise business needs in order to always deliver our customers and prospects the value we promise. These needs translate directly into our sales, marketing, and support requirements," said Stuart Robertson, Director, Marketing of Expedia Corporate Travel, the leader in on-demand corporate travel solutions. "With Customforce, we get the best of all worlds -- highly successful CRM deployed and customized to our needs in days, not years."

Salesforce.com to Customizers: "Show Your Force"

To recognize the ingenuity of customers like Expedia Corporate Travel, salesforce.com announced the "Show Your Force" contest. Open to everyone, from garage-based startups to the largest salesforce.com customers, "Show Your Force" invites business users and developers to submit their most creative uses of these new tools at the Customforce.com website. The winner will receive first-class travel and accommodation to the annual Dreamforce User and Developer Conference, being held Sept. 10-14 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.

"We see customization as the differentiator in the on-demand revolution," Benioff said. "Our momentum of success with customers, our recognized excellence in technology and our growing universe of developers make us the leader in on-demand computing."
