Saint-Jean-Port-Joli Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Fête des Chants de Marins
The Government of Canada supports the Fête des chants de marins in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli
SAINT-JEAN-PORT-JOLI, QC, May 17, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced funding of $26,500 for the 20th anniversary of the Fête des chants de marins, which will take place from August 15 to 19, 2018.
This support, provided under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program, will allow visitors to celebrate the maritime history of the region and beyond. There will be many activities taking place under the theme "20 years of singing you the sea" to showcase local flavours and arts.

Quick Facts
Several performances will be held on the Desjardins stage, inside the Watchtower. The new Hydro-Québec stage will be set up outside Parc des Trois-Bérets, to allow for more shows.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Fête des chants de marins, a fireworks display will take place at the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli marina at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 17.
The festival organizers have something new for young people: the Cabin Boy Tent, with many activities for children aged 5 to 12, including a treasure hunt, a fair, games of skill, a pirate disco, inflatable games, makeup, a drawing workshop, an introduction to circus arts, and more.
