Ryder System Q1 Profit Rises; Lifts 2015 Earnings View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Ryder System, Inc. (R), a provider of transportation and supply chain management solutions, reported first-quarter net earnings of $53.5 million or $1.00 per share, up from $49.1 million or $0.92 per share in the year-ago period.

Comparable earnings from continuing operations for the quarter rose 17% to $1.08 per share from $0.92 per share in the year-ago period. On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.00 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Quarterly revenues declined 3 percent to $1.57 billion from $1.61 billion a year ago, while 12 analysts expected revenue of $1.63 billion.

Looking ahead to the second quarter, Ryder expects comparable earnings of $1.58 to $1.63 per share. Street expects the company to earn $1.65 per share for the quarter.

For fiscal 2015, Ryder raised its comparable earnings forecast range from $6.25 to $6.40 per share to a new range of $6.40 to $6.55 per share. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $6.37 per share for the year.
