Royal Bank of Canada announces redemption of RBC Trust Capital Securities - Series 2008-1

TORONTO, May 16, 2018 /CNW/ - Royal Bank of Canada (RY on TSX and NYSE) today announced that RBC Capital Trust, a closed-end unit trust established by Royal Bank of Canada, will redeem all of its issued and outstanding $500,000,000 principal amount of Trust Capital Securities – Series 2008-1 ("RBC TruCS – Series 2008-1") on June 30, 2018, for cash at a redemption price of $1,000 per unit to be paid on July 3, 2018.

The redemption of the RBC TruCS – Series 2008-1 units will be financed out of the general funds of RBC Capital Trust.

Separately from the redemption price, the final semi-annual distribution for RBC TruCS – Series 2008-1 will be paid in the usual manner on June 29, 2018.
