Rite Aid Sept. Same-Store Sales Rise 5.1% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Retail drugstore chain operator Rite Aid Corp. (RAD) said its same-store sales for September 2014 increased 5.1 percent year-over-year. Monthly front-end same-store sales grew by 2.3 percent, and pharmacy same-store sales, that included an approximate 225 basis points negative impact from new generic launches, went up by 6.3 percent. Prescription count at comparable stores rose 4.4 percent over the prior-year period.

Year-over-year, total drugstore sales for the four-week period grew 4.5 percent to $2.02 billion from $1.935 billion. Prescription sales accounted for 69.5 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.6 percent of pharmacy sales, the company noted.
