Rite Aid April Same Store Sales Rise 3% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Retail drugstore chain Rite Aid Corp. (RAD) Thursday said that for the four weeks ended April 25, same store sales increased 3 percent over the prior-year period.

April front-end same store sales, which were hurt by 0.9 percent due to a shift in the timing of Easter, decreased 0.5 percent.

Pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 145 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, increased 4.6 percent. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 1.8 percent over the prior-year period.

Total drugstore sales for the four-week period increased 2.4 percent to $2.042 billion from $1.995 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales accounted for 68.9 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.7 percent of pharmacy sales.
