Reports: Dell To Divest Software Division - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - As per media reports, Dell Inc. (DELL) is in advance negotiations with Francisco partners and Elliott regarding a possible sale of the company's software division. The deal could be valued more than $2 billion.

In October 2015, Dell Inc. announced an agreement to acquire data-storage company EMC Corp. for about $67 billion in a cash and stock deal, while maintaining EMC's virtualization software company VMware Inc. (VMW) as a publicly-traded company. In February 2016, the companies announced the European Commission has granted unconditional clearance to the proposed combination.
