Reliant Energy, Rangers Fans Officially Set New World Record in Celebration of Summer, Company’s New Solar Solutions Program

With more than 30,000 cheering Texas baseball fans, certified Guinness World Records^TM Adjudicator Danny Girton Jr. announced a new world record for the "Most People Wearing Sunglasses…in the Dark.” Four hundred twenty-four people set the new world record, but Reliant Energy estimates more than 10,000 fans at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington participated in the attempt.

"Shortly before 9 p.m. the new world record was officially set. We are pleased to welcome all the fans who participated tonight into the Guinness World Records family,” said Girton, from Guinness World Records.

Reliant Energy provided sunglasses to fans as they arrived tonight for the Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. To launch Reliant Energy’s new Solar Solutions program, fans donned their sunglasses at the end of the sixth inning as an image of the sun made a special appearance to represent the official first day of summer. The crowd erupted in cheers as they became part of history after receiving the official certified world record from Guinness World Records.

The Reliant Solar Solutions residential program is a new option for customers who want the benefits of solar electricity at home without the large upfront costs of owning a rooftop solar system.

Seats in sections 314 and 315, where the sun made its appearance, were occupied by guests of Reliant Energy, including approximately 500 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, friends and family members from Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America.
