Real Estate Business Owner, Stephen Dowicz, Advises Sellers on How to Stage their Home
NORWALK, Conn., June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Successful business owner, Stephen Dowicz, advises sellers on how to stage their home.
Two vital things to remember when staging a home is that every room should be sparkling clean and clutter-free. Rent a storage unit to stash extra furniture, toys, files, and personal items. Prospective buyers like to picture themselves—and their belongings—in the home while they are house hunting.
In the living room, make sure the room is properly lit. Place tables lamps and accent pillows symmetrically, which is more pleasing to the eye. Consider replacing older furniture with staging furniture. Choose light colors for an inviting look to the room. Throw blankets and accent pillows should be brightly colored to complement the lighter furniture.
For the kitchen, the walls, floor, cabinets, appliances, and backsplashes should be gleaming. Remove any refrigerator magnets and move trash cans out of sight. Nothing should be on the countertops except a few decorative items such as a bowl of fresh fruit or vase of flowers, Stephen M. Dowicz maintains. Any dishes displayed should be a matching set that is attractive and matches the kitchen décor. The same applies to glassware, flatware, and cookware.
When it comes to the bedrooms, less is more. The master bedroom should be gender neutral. No frilly floral curtains or sports paraphernalia should be used. Only hang seasonal clothing in the closet to make it look bigger. Pack any other clothing away. It's also a good idea to purchase a set of wooden hangers. This will create an upscale, boutique look. There should be no televisions or video game systems in the bedrooms. If there are extra bedrooms, consider making them home offices or workout rooms to add interest.
The dining room is a good place to set up some balance—not too formal or casual. Set the table with a few place settings and perhaps some wine glasses. This is the perfect place for potential buyers to imagine entertaining in their new home. Keep decorations simple with some vases or small candle holders.
Spotless is the name of the game when it comes to staging the bathrooms. A fresh coat of paint will be helpful. Store all personal items away from this room, especially medications. This is the place to get a little fancy. Create the look of a luxury day spa with fluffy towels, decorative baskets, plants, a white shower curtain, and a fancy soap dispenser.
