SÃO PAULO, Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Psychemedics Brasil, a pioneer company in the Brazilian market for hair drug testing, with the aim of preventing the spread of imprecise information and distorted interpretations, hereby makes public the necessary clarifications about the content and scope of the recently published decision by the 23rd Civil Court of Brasília (Brazil) in a lawsuit filed by the company Omega Laboratories, Inc.

The activities of Psychemedics Brasil in the market for drug testing have always been based on the principle of free competition, by which it has occupied a market position compatible with its level of quality and professionalism for the past 17 years.

In light of this, Psychemedics Brasil was perplexed to receive the judicial decision which imputed to it partial responsibility for the lack of success in the Brazilian market alleged by Omega Laboratories Inc., because it believes there was no evidence of any illicit practice by Psychemedics Brasil.

Notwithstanding the injustice of the decision, the damages for which Psychemedics Brasil may be held liable are isolated and restricted, so they do not involve a substantial amount. This fact only adds further weight to the contention that in the final analysis, Psychemedics Brasil is not responsible for the fate of Omega Laboratories Inc. in the Brazilian market, nor for any dispute Omega Laboratories Inc. may have with its own distributor.

The judicial decision will in no way affect the activities or operations of Psychemedics Brasil or its relations with partners and suppliers.

As a measure for justice, Psychemedics Brasil will appeal the judicial decision and is confident it will be reversed.
