ProVancouver Joins The Municipal Election Race, and Announces Its Mayoral Nominee
A new party focused on strong communities and transparency aims to empower Vancouverites to shape their city's future.
VANCOUVER, April 17, 2018 /CNW/ - ProVancouver joins the municipal election race and announces David Chen as a mayoral nominee.
ProVancouver's founders believe sound decisions don't need political ideology. Freed from right-wing or left-wing politics, ProVancouver can use the best solutions for issues through collaboration and connecting with everyone. The party's four key platforms are:
- Housing affordability – review of the city's tools and models to relieve the strain in finding affordable housing (e.g., purpose built developments to reduce speculation, homes are integral to our community for Vancourites to live, grow and contribute)
- Livability – making our city's amenities more accessible and affordable. (e.g., ending parking tolls after 6 pm. Bringing our city and community together instead of dividing it apart is key.)
- Responsive City Hall – make policies and procedures more efficient and logical (e.g., move communications budgets into administration processing budgets, maintaining transparency, leadership, collaboration, efficiency and, acting on behalf of citizens over corporations)
- Business development – helping small businesses to thrive to keep productive money working to diversify our local economy (e.g., promote the support of local businesses)
"ProVancouver values transparency and avoiding conflicts of interest and will rebuild the trust lost with the previous government" said David Chen, key founder and nominee for the mayoral role. "People have been silenced for too long, and it's time for ProVancouver to take action to tackle the problems. We need to turn this ship before it hits the rocks."
David Chen, a financial planner born and raised in Vancouver, also has experience in negotiations, and leadership. A father of three youngsters, he knows planning for the future is important. Facebooker Herman Ch writes, "I've spoken with David numerous times and appreciate his passion and sincerity, and his approach of listening to what others have to say."
"We have more issues than just the housing crisis, but it is a crucial link in the chain. Schools are on the verge of closing, local businesses and communities are failing because large numbers of people are leaving. We need leadership with real plans to deal with these issues," said David Chen, "I understand how finances work and my team has innovative ideas. We want to work with others to solve the city's problems. Corruption needs to end, but we will work with people and groups who genuinely want to improve this city."
