Proofpoint Q3 Loss Widens

(RTTNews) - Proofpoint Inc. (PFPT) Thursday reported third-quarter net loss of $17.3 million or $0.46 per share, wider than $7.2 million or $0.20 per share reported last year.

Adjusted loss for the quarter was $4.2 million or $0.11 per share, wider than last year's $2.3 million or $0.07 per share last year.

Total revenues surged 46 percent to $50.3 million from $34.5 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss per share of $0.11 on revenues of $47.75 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking forward to the fourth quarter, the company expects adjusted loss of $0.12 to $0.10 per share, with revenues of $52 million to $53 million. Analysts currently estimate earnings of $0.09 per share on revenues of $49.44 million for the quarter.

For the full-year 2014, the company expects adjusted loss of $0.43 to $0.41 per share on revenues of $191.4 million to $192.4 million. Analysts currently estimate loss of $0.39 per share on revenues of $186.23 million for the year.

Earlier, the company expected adjusted loss of $0.40 to $0.38 per share on revenues of $185.0 million to $186.0 million.
