Proofpoint Acquires Sendmail For $23 Mln - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Security-as-a-service provider Proofpoint, Inc., (PFPT) Tuesday said it has acquired Silicon Valley based Sendmail, Inc. for $23.0 million in cash.

The Sendmail MTA holds a distinguished place in the Internet's history as the first broadly distributed MTA platform supporting simple mail transfer protocol.

The acquisition integrates Sendmail's industry-standard technology which will optimize the solution to meet the evolving demands of public and private cloud architectures and their associated security requirements.

Looking ahead, Proofpoint is also planning to further enhance the Sentrion MTA platform while also continuing to maintain the open source distribution.
