PRIMEDIA Expands Magazine Distribution into New Retail Locations; Company's RetailVision Unit Inks Deals With CSK, Blockbuster and Fred's Dollar Store

    MIDDLEBURY, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2005--RetailVision, the largest magazine distributor to specialty retailers in the U.S. and a PRIMEDIA company, today announced new distribution agreements with leading independent and chain retailers including CSK, Blockbuster and Fred's Dollar Store.
    The addition of CSK adds more than 1,100 retail locations to the distribution of PRIMEDIA's automotive publications, including top performing newsstand brands such as Truckin' and Import Tuner. With CSK, PRIMEDIA now has distribution agreements in 90% of U.S. automotive chain stores. Distribution at Fred's Dollar Stores takes magazines into 520 locations throughout the southeast, marking the first time the chain has sold magazines. The expansion of an agreement with Blockbuster will add 450 new locations.

    Through strategic, turnkey magazine sales programs, RetailVision acts as the category manager for retailers by implementing the racking, distribution, credit and collection, processing of returns, fulfillment, magazine selection, and order regulation of magazines. RetailVision also supports specialty stores' sales of core products with strategic marketing and placement programs. In addition to distributing PRIMEDIA's more than 120 enthusiast titles, RetailVision also distributes publications from other major publishers such as Meredith, Conde Nast and Wenner to 50,000 locations nationwide. Among those locations, approximately 34,000 are proprietary stores and 16,000 are chain locations that include national and regional chains such as Pep Boys, AutoZone, and The Sports Authority.
