PRIMEDIA Announces Appointment of Carl Salas to Treasurer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2005--PRIMEDIA Inc. (NYSE: PRM), the country's leading targeted media company, today announced that Carl Salas, 44, has been promoted to Vice President and Treasurer of the company. He will continue to report to Matthew Flynn, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

"Carl's knowledge of the capital markets and banking experience enhances our ability to improve the returns for our shareholders."
Mr. Salas joined PRIMEDIA in 2003 as Vice President and Assistant Treasurer. He has demonstrated proven leadership in negotiating an appropriate capital structure, designing a risk management program, and streamlining the treasury operations across business lines--all of which have led to a stronger balance sheet and greater financial stability for PRIMEDIA. Most recently, he was responsible for senior note and preferred stock redemptions and reductions in bank debt that will lead to improvements in free cash flow.
Prior to joining PRIMEDIA, Mr. Salas was with Castle Crow & Company, LLC where he worked across multiple industry segments for equity financing of acquisitions. He also spent nine years as a Managing Director in the Entertainment and Media Industries Group at Banc of America Securities. Before joining Banc of America, Mr. Salas was with The First National Bank of Boston.
Mr. Salas holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School and an AB in Biochemistry from Dartmouth College. He also served as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force.
