Precise Timing Key for Delivering Consistent, High-Quality Services; S
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2005--Symmetricom, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYMM) today introduced the Synchronization Professional Development class, developed to educate network planners and telephony professionals on the role of precise timing for reliable and efficient transmission of voice, video and data over digital networks. The first three-day intensive course will be held June 14, 2005, in San Jose, California; upcoming courses will be available by request and on selected dates at Symmetricom training centers in San Jose, California and Northampton, United Kingdom.
"We developed this course based on customers' requests for in-depth training on synchronization and timing requirements in communications," explained Susan Mix, Vice-President, Global Services for Symmetricom. "In today's multi-service, integrated networks, personnel responsible for the purchase, implementation or management of a network need full understanding of the impact precise sync has on increasing network performance and decreasing CAPEX and OPEX."
"I found the course helpful because it was not too theory-driven, which allowed for a concise understanding of network synchronization," commented Aengus Waters of Esat BT in Ireland. "I would recommend it to anyone who requires a practical approach to synchronization of a telecommunications network."
Timing and synchronization are a key infrastructure component for fixed and wireless networks, ensuring all elements perform at peak efficiency for seamless transmission of information. The level of timing accuracy required depends on the application requirement. For example, video on demand requires stringent synchronization for a smooth video broadcast, while an application such as web browsing requires less precision.
Leading synchronization experts will cover fundamentals, case studies, and emerging sync topics such as how to maintain and prepare a network to support next-generation services. Topics include:
-- | Timing Communications Networks |
-- | Atomic Clocks and GPS Technologies |
-- | Standards and Metrics |
-- | Best Practices for Architecture and Implementation |
-- | Measurement Techniques |
-- | Synchronization Network Management |
-- | Emerging Technologies |
-- | Synchronization Audits |
