Praxair Inc Bottom Line Drops 5% In Q2

(RTTNews) - Praxair Inc (PX) revealed a profit for second quarter that fell compared to the same period last year.

The company said its earnings totaled $399 million, or $1.39 per share. This was down from $420 million, or $1.45 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.36 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 2.6% to $2.67 billion. This was down from $2.74 billion last year.
