Power Corp Of Canada Profit Tops Estimates

(RTTNews) - Power Corp of Canada (POW.TO), a diversified holding company, on Friday reported second-quarter net income to shareholders of $615 million or $1.33 per share compared with $314 million or $0.68 per share last year.

Operating earnings for the quarter were $423 million or $0.91 per share compared with $324 million or $0.70 per share last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.75 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Results reflect increased contribution from its Power Financial business as well as at other subsidiaries, the company said.

Power Corp Canada operates as a diversified management and holding company with interests in the financial services, communications, and other business sectors.
