(RTTNews) - Portfolio Recovery Associates Inc (PRAA), a financial and business service company, Wednesday reported first-quarter net earnings of $40.8 million or $0.81 per share compared with $38.6 million or $0.75 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.86 per share.

Revenues for the quarter were up 14% at $194 million compared with $169.6 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.86 per share on revenues of $193.68 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
